Easter - What is it All About Anyway?

Easter is upon us again and there is a lot of activity.  People are going to the grocery stores to purchase the food to prepare their Easter meals.  Others will also be attending church services beginning with Good Friday.  What does it all mean?  Celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is something we have chosen to do.  Christianity would be just as potent, if you will, without it.  We humans are given to special days and times and this time of year is no acception.  What is this Easter all about anyway?  What does it mean in the whole scope of the Christian faith and our daily lives as Christians?

Christian Versus Disciple of Christ

Is there a difference between a Christian and a disciple of Jesus Christ?  Jesus said to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.  However, we know that the term Christian denotes someone who belongs to Christ.  A Christian has put their faith in Jesus Christ and has become born again.  I have been observing things around me in the "religious" community and in churches and those around me.  It seems that bieing a Christian does not necessarily mean that you are a disciple.  By disciple, I mean someone who is learning and doing the word and therefore is like Jesus.  Instead the church is weak and ineffective overall as the increased entropy of the world would attest.
